Confirmation (Middle School Ministry)
"God loves you. Jesus died for you. Believe it!"
Confirmation is an education program designed to teach the foundational truths of Christianity. The group is made up of middle school students (6th, 7th and 8th graders). We offer two weekly meeting times:
Wednesdays (3:30 to 5:00 pm)
Fridays (6:00 to 7:00 pm)
What happens at confirmation? We begin with a gathering time of fun. Next we learn from the Bible and Small Catechism. We use a variety of methods to teach: lectures, stories, movie clips, memorization, and small group discussions. The final 10 minutes of the class is designed for prayer. The themes that will be covered for the year are as follows: the meaning of Christmas, the reason for Jesus’ death, the Sacraments, the life of Martin Luther, and the Lord’s Prayer. Why confirmation? Christians have spent the last two-thousand years passing down the faith so that the next generation would not drift away from the gospel. As the writer of Hebrews reminds us, “Therefore we must pay much closer attention to what we have heard, lest we drift away from it” (Hebrews 2:1). We take this responsibility seriously.
