“The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want.” (Psalm 23-1).
My name is Susan Schaefer and I was born in the San Fernando Valley, the youngest of five children. My husband, Jerry, and I have been married almost 28 years and we have two adult children, Joe age 24 and Annie age 22. I will be retiring next month after 41 ½ year with the City of Los Angeles.
Between working full time and commuting to San Pedro every day, I have limited free time. However, I stuff bulletins every other Friday with Patti and Christi Turner and hope that I will be able to help out more. I attended Grace Lutheran Church for many years and transferred to Reformation about three years ago. At Grace I was the VBS secretary for about six years and served three years on the Missions Team.
For the last five years, I have participated in the Disciple Bible Study with a group of women from Grace, Reformation, and Robinwood – we all met at Grace. This time together has been amazing, challenging, and perplexing. At times, the studies have shaken me to my core and other times, they have deepened and intensified my relationship with Jesus. It is my hope that retirement will provide me with time and opportunity to serve, study, and relax!
