Pentecost
May 11, 2008

Welcome! We thank God for bringing you here this morning
We pray that you hear the good news that through Jesus Christ
you have been reconciled to God!

Introit                                                                                    (Ps 104:24, 27-28, 30)

P: Come, Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of the faithful,

C:  and kindle in them the fire of your love. Alleluia.

P: O LORD, how manifold are your works!

C: In wisdom have you made them all; the earth is full of your creatures.

P: These all look to you, to give them their food in due season.

C: When you give it to them, they gather it up; when you open your hand, they are filled with good things.

P: When you send forth your Spirit, they are created,

C: and you renew the face of the ground.

P: Come, Holy Spirit, fill the heart of the faithful,

C: and kindle in them the fire of your love. Alleluia.

Absolution

Almighty God in His mercy has given His Son to die for you and for His sake forgives you all your sins. As a called and ordained servant of Christ, and by His authority, I therefore forgive you all your sins in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. You are forgiven!

Amen.

Sermon Title                                                                           Pastor Russell Lackey

“A Day For The World”

Creed (Luther’s Small Catechism)

P: Do you believe in the Holy Spirit?

C: I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Christian Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen

P: What does this mean?

C: I believe that I cannot by my own reason or strength believe in Jesus Christ, my Lord, or come to him; but the Holy Spirit has called me by the Gospel, enlightened me with His gifts, sanctified and kept me in the true faith. In the same way He calls, gathers, enlightens, and sanctifies the whole Christian church on earth, and keeps it with Jesus Christ in the one true faith. In this Christian church He daily and richly forgives all my sins and the sins of all believers. On the Last Day He will raise me and all the dead, and give eternal life to me and all believers in Christ. This is most certainly true.

The Lord’s Prayer

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power and the glory forever and ever. Amen.

Benediction
P: You are free in Christ! Go in peace.
C: Thanks be to God!
